Burj Al Babas was abandoned after the developers' bankruptcy in 2019.

In the northwestern part of Turkey, there is a spooky abandoned town called Burj Al Babas. It looks like something from a strange Disney story.

This ghostly town was left strangely empty after the building company responsible for its construction went bankrupt in 2019.

Burj Al Babas was a huge project covering 250 acres and had a price tag staggering $200M.

It was meant to be a fancy town with expensive houses that looked like fairy tales. These houses had beautiful roofs and balconies with amazing views of the sea.

The town was also going to have nice things like a shopping center, a waterpark with fun slides, pools, baths, and saunas inside.

However, despite the ambitious vision, only 60% of the houses were completed before the financial resources ran dry.

These lavish properties, once intended to be sold at prices ranging from $370,000 to $530,000, now stand abandoned.

Why Burj Al Babas has been abandoned?

The downfall of the project was attributed to a significant decline in sales, leading to the developers' declaration of bankruptcy.

Mehmet Emin Yerdelen, chairman of Sarot Properties Group, revealed that the collapse was primarily due to the failure of buyers from Gulf countries to settle their outstanding debts, totaling around $7.5 million

Even though the court said the town was bankrupt, Yerdelen still thinks it can come back to life.

He believes that selling just 100 houses would be enough to pay off the debts and finish the project. He has hope that the town can be saved.

Unfortunately, Burj Al Babas stands as a reminder of dreams that were never fulfilled.

The town is filled with abandoned buildings, unfinished construction, and a strange quietness. Tourists are drawn to this strange place.

The town, once full of hope for a vibrant community, now stands frozen in time as a surreal ghost town.
