A Chick-Fil-A customer was left too upset to eat after receiving an offensive word on her receipt.
Customer discovers slur written on her receipt
Nyiashia Jackson, a 19-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, went to her local Chick-Fil-A for a meal.
After receiving her order, Jackson noticed a disturbing word written on the receipt: “n***r,” with only one “g.”
This slur appeared on both the paper bag and a soda cup. Shocked and disgusted, Jackson couldn’t eat the food.
Her mother, April, expressed her outrage: “You shouldn’t have to be trained not to call someone a n***r.”
Warning from another employee before discovering the slur
Before seeing the offensive note, Jackson had been warned by another employee at the Brookshire Blvd location.
The employee had said, “You might want to look at what they put your name as.”
Upon discovering the slur, Jackson was left in complete shock, unable to process what had happened.
Her mother, April, commented on the incident, stating that she shouldn’t have had to experience it. “You shouldn’t have to be trained not to call someone a n***r,” she said. “I’m just being as honest as I can be.
“I was really, really upset and sad. She told her her name was Nyiashia, and she put on her ticket “N****”‘.”
Cick-fil-a responds with an apology after the incident
Chick-Fil-A issued an apology, stating that the offensive word was a *”misspelling of the customer’s name.”*
The company emphasized that all customers should be treated with honor, dignity, and respect.
They wrote: “Though we understand this to be a misspelling of the customer’s name, that does not negate the impact or experience had by our guests. The Operator has started additional training at his restaurant to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We sincerely apologize for the harm caused by this incident.”
Despite the apology, however, April said that simply wouldn’t cut it.
The restaurant owner has since started additional training to prevent such incidents from happening again.
However, Jackson’s mother did not accept this explanation. She demanded that the employee be fired.
Customer calls for firings following the incident
April Jackson expressed her belief that more staff members should be fired for allowing the incident to occur.
“I want the employee to be fired, that most definitely,” the mother said.
“I feel like a lot people in there should be fired because Chick-fil-A, this was in your screen. This was a ticket that was printed not once but twice.”
She questioned how such a mistake could have happened, especially since the slur appeared on the printed ticket twice.
She remains appalled by the incident, calling for accountability and stronger action.
