A hot mic unexpectedly captured a heated argument between Donald Trump and Zelenskyy at the Oval Office. And the recording has now been revealed, sparking widespread discussion.
A tense meeting in the Oval Office turns heated
Previously, the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the president of Ukraine, Zelenskyy, had a heated exchange at the Oval Office.
However, a hot mic recorded the final moments of a tense exchange between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Their disagreement led to Zelenskyy’s removal from the Oval Office.
Despite the meeting’s goal of peace talks, the discussion quickly escalated. The two leaders clashed over the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Trump and Zelenskyy’s heated exchange
On February 28, Zelenskyy met with Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the White House. The topic was Ukraine’s war with Russia.
Trump and Zelenskyy argued in front of the press. Reports claim Trump eventually asked Zelenskyy to leave after an intense debate.
Additionally, Vance criticized Zelenskyy, stating he should show gratitude for U.S. military aid. He claimed Zelenskyy was being disrespectful.
Zelenskyy pushed back. He asked, “Have you ever been to Ukraine? Seen what problems we have? Come once.”
The Ukrainian president then spoke about wartime struggles. He warned that just because others ‘don’t feel it now’ doesn’t mean they won’t in ‘the future.’
Then, Trump interrupted, claiming he was ‘trying to solve a problem.’ He told Zelenskyy he had ‘no position’ to dictate how the U.S. should feel.
Trump said: ‘He is trying to solve a problem’ and saying Zelenskyy is in ‘no position’ to tell them ‘what [they’re] going to feel’.
The hot mic captures Trump’s private orders
As the press exited, Trump gave quiet orders to his aides. A hot mic reportedly picked up his words.
Additionally, he instructed his staff to escort the Ukrainian delegation to the Roosevelt Room. There, Zelenskyy and his team were told Trump wanted them to leave.
Speaking to an aide, Trump said: “You’re right, maybe we should [inaudible]. Let’s have a little something… Would you bring them to the Roosevelt Room?”
This explosive meeting has had immediate consequences. Trump has decided to pause all military aid to Ukraine.
A White House official confirmed the decision. “The president has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well.
“We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution.”
Zelenskyy insists Ukraine is committed to peace
In response, Zelenskyy reaffirmed his dedication to ending the war. He released a statement emphasizing Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate.
“Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer,” he stated.
“Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.”
