An influencer, who once believed the Moon had disappeared, attended Trump’s first ‘new media’ briefing, marking a new approach.
Kambree Nelson, a social media influencer known for her unconventional beliefs, attended the White House’s first “new media” briefing.
Nelson made headlines last year after convincing herself and followers the moon had vanished, sparking a bizarre online frenzy.
Influencer who thought the Moon disappeared joins Trump’s first new media briefing
Nelson, who has a substantial following on X with over 600,000 followers, gained attention in October when she claimed the moon had disappeared.
She posted to her followers, stating that she had been looking for the moon for seven days but couldn’t find it.
At the time she said: “Has anyone seen the moon lately? I’ve been looking for 7 days.”

A follower agreed with Nelson, and they discussed the moon’s supposed disappearance.
In response, Nelson said: “It has, why is everyone silent about this?”
Despite being reassured by others who claimed they had seen the moon, Nelson insisted it was gone, further fueling the confusion.
This peculiar belief caught the attention of the public, especially when one follower suggested Nelson simply check for the moon at night.
However, she remained adamant that it had vanished, even claiming that her friends across multiple states couldn’t find it either.
Eventually, a “Community Note” was added to her posts clarifying that the moon was indeed still in the sky.

New White House media briefing for influencers
Despite her bizarre moon claims, Nelson was invited to attend President Donald Trump’s first “new media” briefing, an event that breaks from traditional media formats.
This briefing was designed to incorporate social media influencers.
It was an effort by the Trump administration to engage with younger audiences and supporters outside of mainstream media.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt led the briefing, emphasizing that millions of Americans are now turning to social media for news.
As a result, the White House is embracing the shift and using influencers to share information directly with the public.
Nelson, as an ambassador for the American First Policy Institute, was one of the influencers chosen to participate in this new format.
