Candidates who fail the test are not hired, as it reveals aspects of their character beyond conventional interview questions.

When it comes to job interviews, many candidates take hours to craft responses to frequently asked questions. However, some bosses will throw a curveball question, and in this case, unexpected questions can put applicants on the spot.

One man asserts that this happened at a nuclear power school in the US. However, this assessment isn't intended to measure intelligence; instead, it's intentionally designed to reveal one's true character.

According to his account, interviewers intentionally use a trick with two chairs in the interview room.

In an interview with Mirror US, the individual explained that during the interview at Power School, candidates would sit on a chair placed directly in front of the interviewing officer's desk.

"There was a second/similar chair in the room available for the applicant – off to the side. The chair in front of the desk for the applicant had one leg of chair – cut shorter – so the person sitting in the chair would wobble – during the interview. The successful test was to see if the applicant would be bold enough to stop the interview for a moment – to request to exchange his chair, for second/other chair - so they did not wobble."

he boss, Trent Innes, shared that he uses a simple 'coffee cup test' to determine whether a candidate is right for the job. This sparked a discussion on social media.

Trent argues that those who don't pass his 'coffee cup test' wouldn't be suitable for employment in his eyes, as he sees it as an indicator of their attitude, surpassing the insights that regular interview questions could provide. He even goes so far as to blacklist people who failed from working at his company.

Trent used to work at Xero Australia until his departure in September 2021. He revealed his little trick during an appearance on the business podcast 'The Venture,' hosted by entrepreneur Lambros Photios.

In an episode from 2019, he said:  "I will always take you for a walk down to one of our kitchens and somehow you always end up walking away with a drink."

He continued: "Then we take that back, have our interview, and one of the things I'm always looking for at the end of the interview is, does the person doing the interview want to take that empty cup back to the kitchen? You can develop skills, you can gain knowledge and experience but it really does come down to attitude, and the attitude that we talk a lot about is the concept of 'wash your coffee cup'."
