However, Chari is angry and said he was served a single banana with chopsticks for the vegan option.

He wrote in forum FlyerTalk:

Before takeoff today my flight attendant confirmed that I ordered VGML and that my breakfast was a banana, by which I mistakenly assumed she meant that breakfast included a banana. When she served the banana after takeoff I thought it was just an underwhelming appetizer, but it was the entire meal service! It was a really good banana—one of the best I've had recently—but it still seems more appropriate as a snack. Is catering out of CGK typically this underwhelming?

Charlie said he wanted meals of equal value to non-vegetarian passengers, such as sandwiches, salads, vegan cheese, or baguettes.

He thought it an insult to offer only one banana. He was also outraged when others got richer, tastier menus.

He criticized Japan Airlines, and He added:

It's a bit insulting to be served a single banana while others are given a far more substantial and flavorful menu. It seems especially important given the growth in the number of vegans and vegetarians.

Then, Jane's Airlines immediately apologized to Kris Chari for serving a single banana as a vegan meal to a business-class passenger. However, the airline also confirmed that a banana is the snack option in all special in-flight meals

The airline representative shared:

We apologize for not being able to meet expectations. We will continue to respond to our menus in light of the growing interest and diverse needs of customers requesting special meals, including the valuable feedback from this customer.

Then Chari was served a second vegan meal consisting of spaghetti that was barely seasoned.
