The all-women crew launched into space together.
Katy joined five other remarkable women for this historic mission.
The crew included former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, documentary producer Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyễn, journalist Gayle King, and author Lauren Sánchez.
Each of these women has made notable contributions in their fields, and they all share a passion for storytelling.
The launch happened at 10 AM EDT from West Texas.

Before the launch, Katy shared her feelings on social media.
She described a surprising moment when she learned the name of the capsule that would take her to space.
The name of the capsule is “Tortoise.” When she heard this, she felt a wave of energy run through her body.
She said: “I think if you know me, you know that I am always looking for little confirmations from the heavens, from my guides, from my angels, from my higher self.
“You know, when I ask for it and I’m open to it, it’s pretty loud.
“So when I was invited to come on this voyage, I looked up the capsule and the capsule, on the very front of it is the outline in the shape of a feather.”

Katy explained that her mother has given her two nicknames: “Feather” and “Tortoise.”
When she saw that the capsule was named Tortoise, she felt it was a sign from the universe. She believes in signs and confirmations from her guides and angels.

“There are no coincidences,” she continued. “And I’m just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship.”

Katy Perry aims to inspire future generations through space.
Katy’s goal for this mission goes beyond just traveling to space. She wants to inspire young people, especially her daughter Daisy.
She believes it is important for children to dream big and know that they can achieve anything, regardless of their background.
