This unusual sighting occurred while the helicopter was filming a routine news segment.

The orb was seen moving quickly over the Hudson River and past Lower Manhattan.

The orb was first noticed during a broadcast by Fox 5 New York.

As the helicopter hovered south of Battery Park, viewers could see the object gliding through the clear sky.

Initially appearing as a white dot in the distance, it took on a blue hue as it approached the camera.

The object seemed to move faster than the boats on the river, creating an impressive visual as it arced across the screen.

Experts share opinions on the eerie orb-like object in the NYC sky.

Many experts have commented on the footage, attempting to explain what the orb might be.

Avi Loeb is a prominent theoretical physicist and cosmologist from Harvard.

He suggested that the orb could be an optical illusion caused by reflections on the camera lens.

He explained that as the helicopter changed its angle, light could create unexpected visual effects.

Loeb stated, “This is most likely an optical artifact from the helicopter glass in front of the camera.”

He also noted that even if the object were real, its speed was not extraordinary, likely comparable to the speed of sound.

“But even if it was a real object, the apparent speed is of an order the speed of sound and not extraordinary,” Loeb concludes.

Tim Gallaudet, a retired admiral in the U.S. Navy, echoed Loeb’s views.

He doubted the orb was a UAP, suggesting it seemed more like a camera artifact than a physical object.

“For several reasons, looks like an artifact and not an actual UAP,” Gallaudet said.

People exposed numerous theories and speculations surrounding eerie orb-like object zoom over NYC.

A closer look at the footage

In the footage, the orb is seen crossing in front of a building in New Jersey before it continues over the Hudson River.

A shadow can be observed on a nearby building as the orb passes.

The object then moves over the tree line and banks along the Lower Manhattan shoreline, following a distinct arcing pathway.

If the orb indeed traveled from New Jersey to Lower Manhattan, it would have covered a distance of about three miles in just a few seconds.

This would suggest an incredible speed of approximately 2,700 miles per hour, far exceeding the capabilities of most aircraft.

The incident caught the attention of viewers, including news anchor Dan Bowens, who shared the clip on social media.

“Anyone else see this on Good Day?,” the Emmy winner wrote in an Instagram Story. “What is that? A balloon?

He playfully asked his followers what they thought the object could be, suggesting it might even be a balloon.

His post reflects the intrigue and confusion that many people feel about the sighting.

The video has generated various theories among viewers.

Some believe the object could be a drone or another type of aircraft moving quickly through the air.

This idea aligns with the concept of a “parallax effect,” where objects can appear to move faster than they actually do due to the camera’s motion.

The news team confirmed they had not altered the footage through digital editing.

However, they could not determine when the video was recorded.

It was likely within the last year, adding to the mystery surrounding the sighting.

Why didn’t anyone on any of those boats that it passed report a sighting?

Or any one of the millions of people in the city? It was solely observed by one helicopter? One user asked.

It’s probably the camera reflecting back… I got a green orb on a few photos because of the sun reflecting off my camera lens.

The helicopter camera is in a dome… slow news day? The second user said.

I used to see one time around Hudson River. And exactly that color. Appeared and disappeared like alternating, the third user said.

Exact same blueish color as lens reflection, another wrote.

Maybe somebody’s private drone made to look like something else. That makes the most sense if it’s not a balloon, someone explained.
