Gorske, who is now 71 years old, began his love for Big Macs more than 50 years ago.

As of last year, he has consumed a total of 34,128 Big Macs. In 2023 alone, he ate 728 burgers.

His dedication to this fast-food item has earned him recognition from Guinness World Records, where he has held the record since 1999.

He recalls the first time he tasted a Big Mac. “I threw the cartons in the back seat and started counting them from day one,” he said.

This simple act turned into a lifelong passion for burgers.

At his peak, Gorske would eat as many as nine Big Macs in a single day. However, he has since reduced that number.

Now, he typically enjoys two Big Macs each day—one for lunch and one for dinner.

Despite this high intake of fast food, he claims his health remains good.

How has eating 35,000 McDonald’s burgers impacted his health?

Many people assume that eating so many burgers would lead to health issues. However, Gorske insists that he has not faced any significant health problems.

He aims to stay healthy by avoiding fries with his burgers and walking six miles every day.

“Many people thought I’d be dead by now, but instead I’ve been a record holder for my 24th year,” he said proudly.

“One of Guinness World Records’ longer-running record holders, so that’s pretty cool to me.”

Expert opinions on fast food

Health professionals have voiced strong concerns about fast food. Dr. Jeremy London, a cardiac surgeon, has called fast food “actively poisoning” people.

He explains that most items available at fast-food restaurants are not real food but “edible food products.”

“Most of what’s available in fast food chains is ‘edible food product’, it’s not even real food.”

Cardiologist Lauren Baldwin also warns against fast food. She mentions that it is high in sodium and often contains unhealthy trans fats.

“The key is to avoid having these foods as a regular part of your diet,” she said.

“Like some other foods on this list, they are high in sodium. But even worse is that many fast-food restaurants are still using trans fats.”

Baldwin continued: “These are the least healthy fats you can eat, since they raise your bad cholesterol levels, while also lowering your good cholesterol levels.

“One of the reasons these fats continue to be used – particularly with fried foods – is that they have a longer shelf life.”
