A recent TikTok video has sparked concern and raised awareness about the potential risks of sharing personal information online.
In the video, a man impressively and somewhat terrifyingly managed to track down a woman's location in a London hotel using just a few details from her social media post.
Man left people spooked after easily tracking down a woman's location thanks to her post online
In the video, content creator Ayame shared her review of the room service in the hotel she was staying at.
Little did she know that this innocent post would provide enough clues for someone to determine her exact location.
Content creator Yuval The Terrible responded to Ayame's post with a video showcasing how he deduced her whereabouts.
Yuval focused on a specific detail in Ayame's video: her room service order of "berry compote" with Greek yogurt.
He conducted a search for London hotels offering this specific breakfast item and narrowed it down to a hotel chain with five locations.
By carefully examining Ayame's video and comparing it to the hotel's website, he successfully identified the exact hotel she was staying in.
However, Yuval's investigation did not end there.
Once he determined the hotel Ayame was staying in, he cleverly analyzed the surrounding details to identify the exact bedroom that belonged to her.
By comparing the headboard, wallpaper, and artwork seen in Ayame's video with an image of a room on the hotel's website, Yuval successfully identified a specific bedroom.
Furthermore, he utilized the view from her window to further narrow down the location.
Yuval expressed his satisfaction, remarking that he was glad Ayame had chosen to wait to post until after she left this time.
Ayame herself expressed her shock and vowed never to post a room service review again.
People are concerned when they know they can easily be tracked with just one online post
The video also left viewers horrified, as they realized how easily someone could track down personal information based on seemingly innocuous details shared online.
Yuval's analysis video has gone viral on TikTok, attracting millions of viewers. Some praised his analytical talent while others expressed concern that he was a dangerous man.
My daughter sent a picture of her dog to a guy and he zoomed in on his tags and got her address!!!!! I never would’ve thought! Now I check every dog photo!!! One user terrifiedly said.
The FBI needs this guy, the second user joked.
Kinda strange everyone in your neighborhood knows where you live and your not bothered. I do get it for women though because of all the nut job's loose now that we have almost no asylums, another wrote.
