McDonald’s worker refuses to carry out the task despite the manager’s request
A McDonald’s crew member in New Zealand shocked his colleagues by quitting mid-shift after he cleaned a sink full of dirty dishes.
Consequently, the incident, which was captured on video and posted on TikTok, has sparked a division of opinions on the internet.
The footage started with the sink piled high with grills and fryers after the young worker was asked to roll up his sleeves and scrub the sink.
He said: ‘Hell no, I am not cleaning that, I ain’t cleaning that.’
‘Actually, I quit!’
In response, his frustrated manager yells while bewildered colleagues beg him to stay. Addionally, the manager is heard screaming while waving her arms in exasperation.
‘No! Get back here!’ She screamed.
A colleague added: ‘Oh, f*** that!’
Despite pleas to reconsider, the young employee stands his ground and exits, declaring, ‘I quit, I’m leaving Maccas. See you on the flip side b*****!’
The video quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media
In the comments section, the employee’s attitude elicited mixed reactions from viewers. While, some suggested that they work at McDonald’s and understood the situation.
However, many others were unsympathetic and believed the job wasn’t as bad as the crew member described.
Another viewer wrote that it wasn’t even that bad and only took 20 minutes of work.
One person said: His parents should be ashamed they failed to raise an adult. His response is what you’d expect from a 2-year-old told to pick up their toys, not a paid employee.
Quick-service restaurants need their staff to flex when needed. Grow up, mate. You have to do your fair share. A second said.
A third claimed: They didn’t receive responsibilities as children to teach them to grow up. Consequently, they still behave like they were 2. Children need to learn to take responsibility and to work.
Someone else wrote: Don’t cry when businesses can’t maintain regular hours or provide good customer service. Observe the quality of employees emerging from the next generation. They display zero work ethic, no pride in their work, and are also lazy.
What a smart young fellow, documenting his laziness for the world. Better go grovel for that Maccas job back son. You’ll be lucky to even have that one. Another added.
What do you think of the video? Would you consider quitting if the manager asks you to do the dishes?
