Mike Tyson sued for $1.6 million after alleged breach of promo contract for Jake paul fight

Mike Tyson is facing a significant lawsuit after allegedly breaching a promotional contract with a Cyprus-based gambling company.

Tyson faced an alleged breach after entering into the promotional agreement.

Tyson had entered into a promotional deal with Medier, a company promoting the online casino and betting platform Rabona.

According to the lawsuit filed in London in October, Tyson’s company, Tyrannic, allegedly terminated the deal after Tyson agreed to fight Jake Paul.

Medier claimed that the deal was terminated on the day the Netflix special was announced in March, leading to a breach.

Tyson’s actions reportedly cost Medier approximately 1.46 million euros (around $1.59 million).

Tyson’s representatives have denied any wrongdoing.

After the incient, they argued that Medier breached the contract first, which justified Tyson’s decision to terminate the deal.

“Tyson and Tyrannic have not yet filed a defense to the lawsuit, although Tyson’s representatives have issued a statement to The New York Post.

Tyson’s tem said: “It is the company’s position that Medier, Ltd. materially breached the terms of its license agreement on multiple occasions and in various ways,”

“As such, Tyrannic, LLC was well within its legal and contractual rights to terminate the license agreement for material breach in an effort to mitigate additional reputational harm to the Tyson brand.”

Additionally, they added that terminating the agreement was necessary to prevent further reputational damage to Tyson’s brand.

Tyson vs Jake Paul fight and future possibilities

Tyson fought Jake Paul on November 16, 2024, in an eight-round match at AT&T Stadium in Texas, which was streamed on Netflix.

While, Paul won the fight with scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in his favor. Despite the loss, Tyson, 58, said he would be open to future fights.

When asked if the November match was his last, Tyson responded, “I don’t know. It depends on the situation.”

He went on to suggest a potential fight with Paul’s older brother, Logan Paul, saying, “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe his brother.”

Logan Paul’s respone to Tyson’s challenge

Logan Paul responded to Tyson’s challenge by joking, “I’ll kill him,” which appeared to be a roundabout way of accepting the challenge.

Tyson’s legal team has not yet filed a defense to the lawsuit. However, they continue to maintain their position, stating that the breach was justified.

Tyson’s legal battle with Medier is ongoing, and the outcome remains uncertain.

While Tyson’s lawsuit proceeds, his future in boxing seems to include possible bouts, with Logan Paul potentially becoming his next opponent.
