Target worker complained about closing the store alone
In a viral TikTok video, Ket explains that she had only been working at Target for two months when the incident occurred on April 7. During her shift, the morning manager left at 3 p.m, leaving her with the daunting task of closing the entire store.
“There are only four people working right now, and I’m somehow supposed to close 24 registers, guest services, and self-checkout,” she said in the video.
Ket added, “I wasn’t prepared or warned. I’ve only been here 2 months and had to unexpectedly close the store nearly by myself.”
With no supervisor on-site, she was thrust into a leadership role. So this ledt her team while feeling overwhelmed by the tasks at hand.
Target worker revealed the conflict between a customer and a coworker
The lack of support wasn’t just internal.

@ketaminelorde Honestly would say i did a stellar job considering i wasnt prepared or warned for this #target
“I had no idea what I was doing,” Ket admitted, recalling an encounter with an upset customer who was fed up with waiting for help.
Her coworkers didn’t make the situation any easier. In one instance, Ket attempted to radio a colleague who had taken a 15-minute break but didn’t return for over half an hour.
“Hey, you went on your 15-minute break about 30 minutes ago. Where are you?” she said over the walkie-talkie. “I need you up here, please.”
Lack of leadership
The absence of proper management contributed to the chaotic atmosphere Ket experienced.
Additionally, Target’s code of ethics emphasizes that managers should ensure non-exempt employees are provided with rest breaks and meal periods.
However, in Ket’s case, it seems these guidelines were not followed, further complicating her shift.
Target’s official policy states, “We depend on hourly (non-exempt) team members to record the time they work honestly and accurately and follow our requirements for meals and break periods.”
