Simone Biles, one of the most celebrated gymnasts in the world, has recently spoken out after her birth mother publicly asked for forgiveness.
This request comes after years of complicated family dynamics and Biles’ journey to success in gymnastics.
Olympic star Simone Biles responds after birth mother seeks forgiveness for abandoning her
One day after Shanon, Simone’s birth mother, gave an emotional interview asking to reconnect, the 27-year-old gymnast expressed her gratitude on social media.
Biles thanked the loving parents who raised her and supported her throughout her journey.
In a post on the social media platform Threads, Biles gushed over a gift her “parents” had given her, a Hermès bag.
“My parents bought me my Hermès bag,” she wrote with a heart emoji.
Biles, who won three gold medals and a silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has been open about the trauma of her childhood.
She credits her adoptive grandparents, whom she calls her “parents,” for giving her a stable and loving home.
This supportive environment enabled her to thrive as an athlete.
In her social media post, Simone seemed to send a subtle message to her birth mother, writing: “Don’t be mad at me, be mad at your parents.”
This poignant statement suggests that while Shanon is seeking forgiveness, Biles has found the parental support she needed in her adoptive family.

This heartfelt message followed Shanon’s candid interview with DailyMail.com, where she discussed her struggles with addiction.
She revealed that these challenges led her to abandon Simone and her sister Adria during their childhood.
Shanon shared that her struggle with drug and alcohol abuse resulted in her losing custody of her four children.
Eventually, Simone and Adria were adopted by their maternal grandparents, Ron and Nellie.
Now 52 years old, Shanon said she lives in the hope that Simone will one day reach out and give her a chance at forgiveness.
“It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do,” Shanon said.
“I was in a dark place back then and I take full responsibility. I just hope that one day, Simone will hear me out.”
“Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward.
“I’m waiting for the opportunity but I’m waiting for her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient,” Shanon shared.
Biological mother of Olympic star Simone Biles struggled to live
According to court records, Shanon has been in trouble with the law 36 times for different traffic and criminal issues.
In January 2020, she was found guilty of assault and received a 180-day suspended prison sentence along with probation until January 2022.
However, she has stayed out of trouble for the past few years and now works as a cashier at Save A Lot, a discount grocery store.
Shanon has Simone’s phone number but has never called her. Instead, she gets updates about her daughter from Ronald.
Shanon’s financial struggles were evident in 2018 when she filed for bankruptcy.
She owned little, with her most valuable assets being two unusable cars worth a combined $2,125.
The rest of her assets, including her home, household items, and pets, were valued at just $9,650.
Yet, she owed over $14,000 to 21 different companies, including medical and financial services, shopping websites, and a student loan.
However, since 2022, she has managed to turn her life around, staying out of trouble and securing a job as a cashier at a discount grocery store.
