Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty recently revealed a shocking discovery at the Olympic Village, finding worms in the food served to athletes.

Recently, British swimmer Adam Peaty has revealed the poor conditions athletes are facing at the Olympic Village in Paris 2024.

Peaty, a six-time Olympic medalist, did not mince words as he blasted the “long queues” and “lack of meat” in the village.

Remarkably, he even claimed that some athletes have even found “worms” in their food.

Adam Peaty, 29, was seen as one of Team GB’s top medal contenders for the Paris Games.

However, he only won a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke, a race he has dominated for many years.

After his defeat, Peaty admitted he had been struggling with a sore throat, which later turned out to be a positive Covid-19 test.

“It’s just not good enough,” Peaty said in a scathing assessment of the facilities.

“We’re being put in an Olympic Village where there are worms in the food. I’m not happy about that at all.”

The Olympic Village is a place where athletes stay while competing in the Games.

It is designed to provide everything they need, including food.

Meals are an important part of an athlete’s daily routine as proper nutrition helps them perform at their best.

However, the discovery of worms in the food raised alarms among many athletes and fans.

In the interview, Peaty explained that he heard some athletes found worms while eating their meals.

“I’ve heard from several athletes that they’ve found worms in their food,” he said.

“That’s completely unacceptable.

“We’re supposed to be staying in world-class facilities, but this is falling far short of the standards we expect,” he added.

Peaty criticized the Olympic Village for providing too much vegan food

He was surprised and disappointed because he expected better quality food at such a significant event.

Many athletes rely on the meals provided in the Village to keep their energy levels up and maintain their health during the Games.

The presence of worms could discourage athletes from eating the food served, leading to a lack of proper nutrition.

There have been widespread reports of long queues for meals, inadequate food options, and even issues with the accommodation.

“The queues for food are ridiculous,” Peaty continued.

“There’s no meat, it’s just vegetables and carbs.

I understand they’re trying to be healthy, but we’re elite athletes who need proper nutrition to perform at the highest level.”

Peaty’s comments come on the heels of a series of controversies surrounding the Paris 2024 Olympics.

There have been concerns about the overall infrastructure, delays in construction, and the eco-friendly but potentially problematic cardboard beds provided for athletes.

The British swimmer announced to take a long break after the Games

The six-time Olympic medalist has now revealed that he will be taking a step back from the sport following the Games.

“I’ve given everything to this sport, and it’s taken a toll,” Peaty said.

“After Paris, I’m going to take a break and reassess my priorities.

I want to make sure I’m in the best possible shape, both physically and mentally, for the next chapter of my career.”
