To calculate percentages, multiply the starting number by the percentage number as a fraction. For example, to get 60 percent of 80, multiply 80 by 0.6, resulting in 48.

This process is simple if you have a calculator, which is often readily available.

One more example of quickly calculating: To calculate 25 x 47 in your head. You can use various methods such as 20 x 40 = 800, 20 x 7 = 140, 5 x 40 = 200. And 5 x 7 = 35, and then add them together to get 1175.
