On social media, many viewers were baffled after a viral video captured a moment showing a plane stopping mid-air.
A viral video has left viewers baffled by the sight of a plane seemingly stuck mid-air.
Some have even suggested it’s stopped at a “red light.”
While this explanation might sound odd, there’s a logical reason behind the phenomenon.
A plane stopped mid-air
On social media, a user named @plac3bo1 shared a video showing a plane appearing to hover in the sky while a car drives on the highway below.
The video has the caption: “The plane is stuck in the air looking like it’s frozen.”
The footage captured a moment showing the plane remains in the same spot for several moments, creating a strange visual illusion.
Is it an optical illusion or a glitch in the matrix?

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate among viewers.
In the comment selection, many online users joked that the plane was waiting at a “red light” in the sky. Some even likened the scene to a paused video game. One commenter joked, *Bro’s mom said the dinner is ready.”
One person said: This is what happens when you don’t have EE full fibre to get the plane down.
A second wrote: Glitch in the simulation, just like the Mandela effect, and the great coding that makes the inside of a bus able to have 2 double seats plus a central aisle but only 18″ wider than my car.
While a third commented: Ever sit in a car at a red light and the car next to you starts moving? You know you aren’t moving but cus the car next to you is it feels like ur moving too.
These are the same people who think the moon is following them. Another added.
Someone else said: These are the same people that freak out when the sun and moon are out at the same time. Deary me!
As expected, conspiracy theories quickly emerged. Some suggested that the event was evidence we are living in a computer simulation. “Hundred percent this is a simulation,” one person wrote, while another commented, “Simulation’s broken.”
The logical explanation for the baffling sight
Despite the amusing theories, the most plausible explanation involves perspective.
As the car moves along the road, it counteracts the plane’s slow descent. The shifting angle of the camera creates the illusion that the plane isn’t moving.
Jeff Parsons, a science and technology editor at Metro, explained the visual trickery. “The motion of the car is counteracting the slowing down of the plane,” he said.
“Add to that the shifting perspective, and it could seem as if the plane was stationary.”
While it might seem like a glitch in the matrix, the explanation behind this bizarre sight is much simpler.
The combination of a moving car, a descending plane, and changing camera angles creates an illusion of stillness.
