Pregnant Laura Woods has received threatening messages after tweeting Imane Khelif’s gender eligibility in Olympic boxing.

Laura Woods, a famous sports presenter, has recently faced a wave of threats following her comments on social media.

Woods, who is currently pregnant, tweeted about the controversy surrounding Imane Khelif, a boxer competing in the Olympics.

This tweet has sparked a strong reaction, resulting in death threats being sent to Woods.

Woods, a 37-year-old presenter for TNT Sports, recently tweeted her support for an article in The Telegraph addressing the “Imane Khelif Olympic boxing gender row.”

The article explores the backlash and accusations Khelif, an Algerian boxer who won gold in the women’s 66kg event at the 2024 Olympics, faces.

However, Woods’ innocuous tweet praising the article has since led to a torrent of online abuse and threats directed at both her and her unborn child.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Woods expressed her shock and dismay at the vicious response.

“Since I replied to this article I’ve had numerous death threats to myself and my unborn child,” wrote Woods.

“Questions on my own gender (I’m pregnant so guess that clears that one up) calls for my employers to sack me, threats to my home.”

Furthermore, she has also been subjected to a range of personal insults, including being called a “racist,” “bigot,” “sexist,” as well as more vulgar terms.

She was even asked why she hadn’t raised concerns on the issue before, to which she responded, “See above for your answer.”

The controversy surrounding Imane Khelif has been a hot-button topic leading up to the 2024 Olympics.

Despite being born female and not identifying as transgender or intersex, Khelif faced intense scrutiny and criticism from public figures.

They claimed she was a biological male competing in the women’s event.

J.K Rowloing, Elon Musk and Donald Trump mock at ImaneKhelif case

Among those weighed in on the issue were author J.K. Rowling and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Rowling accused Khelif of being a man “enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head,” while Musk shared a post claiming “men don’t belong in women’s sports.”

Khelif has since filed a criminal complaint in France, alleging “acts or aggravated cyber harassment” against her.

The complaint reportedly names Rowling, Musk, and even former US President Donald Trump as targets of the lawsuit.

In her response, Woods emphasized the importance of addressing genuine concerns about fairness and safety in the sport.

She also condemned the “rumors, conspiracy theories, and wild conjecture” that have surrounded the issue.

“When there are discrepancies with test results which could impact the safety of another human being.
