A pub landlady has revealed the latest update after a couple who fled the restaurant without paying apologized and paid the bill in full.

The couple, who left without paying for their meals and beverages at The Smithy Arms pub in Malton, Swinton, were publicly called out by the landlady on social media.

The pub's landlady shared pictures of the couple dashing to their car in the establishment's parking lot and promptly departing.

Following Landlady Lisa McMasters' assertive post on Facebook, several users were able to recognize and identify the couple. They were later confirmed as Ruby, 32, and Suzy, 33.

The caption wrote: "How nice of you to come for a meal and drinks and run without paying. Staying on a campsite near."

According to a statement from an employee at the pub, as reported by MailOnline, the couple came in with 'two young' and ordered food.

The employee said: "It was a busy evening, the floor and tables were busy but there is a conservatory at the back and we found them a table there."

According to an account from a pub staff member, the group of four, comprising the couple and their two children, was asked if they wanted dessert after finishing their meal and beverages, but they said they didn't.

The couple claimed that they returned the next day to pay at the bar. After doing so, they left and were last captured on CCTV as they hastily made their way, 'running for their car'.

"The bill was for £56 and unfortunately it went unpaid," the employee added.

In an Instagram post that has since been removed, one of the women asserted that they 'had to dash' because of a 'personal emergency'.

They explained: "Usually I'd ignore ridiculous online hate, but this also involves my children so I'm just popping on to say that last night we had a delicious meal and experienced brilliant service at The Smithy Arms in Swinton, but sadly our visit was cut short."

Despite their intention to immediately inform the pub about the circumstances by making a phone call, the couple faced a challenge as they realized there was 'absolutely no reception' at the campsite where they were staying. Consequently, they had no choice but to wait.

However, the mother reassured that the family did 'settle the bill' and took the additional step of offering a 'generous tip' to the pub as an apology.

"There are no hard feelings between myself and the lovely people at The Smithy Arms, yet the internet has gone nuts. A misunderstanding that got enormously blown out of proportion, followed by a homophobic and body-shaming witch hunt," the post read.

Subsequently, pub landlady McMasters confirmed that the whole incident has been resolved. She told the Daily Mail that the couple 'visited the pub, offered their apologies, and provided an account of their circumstances'

She said: "It seems there was a medical issue involving one of the children and they felt they had to leave to deal with that

"They explained that they went back to their campsite and wanted to ring to explain but had no signal.
