Shop worker Kevin Parsons was celebrated with 40 sausage rolls for his 38 years of work at a shop’s freezer in Guernsey.

Kevin Parsons, a dedicated employee at Alliance supermarket in Guernsey, was recently honored for his remarkable 40 years of service.

Parsons, who began his career with the store in 1984, was celebrated with a special gift. He received 40 sausage rolls, one for each year of his commitment.

Parsons, now 56, initially joined the Alliance team to assist with deliveries.

Over the years, he transitioned to the freezer section, where he has worked diligently for the past 38 years.

Known for his energetic approach to his job, Parsons humorously noted that he keeps warm by “running.” He also joked that customers “need roller skates to keep up” with him.

The supermarket organized a ceremony on August 19 to celebrate Kevin Parsons’ 38 years of work. This significant milestone was attended by staff and management.

In addition to the 40 sausage rolls, Parsons received a certificate and a tropical-themed mural for his home.

Described as an “Alliance celebrity” by his employers, Parsons expressed his deep gratitude for the recognition. He also said that “words can’t express” his appreciation.

Community impact and appreciation

Alliance chairman Chris Fish praised Parsons for his contributions to both the store and the local community.

Additionally, Fish highlighted Parsons’ charitable efforts, noting that he has raised substantial funds for various causes.

Additionally, Commercial director Laura Golden also emphasized the positive response to a Facebook post celebrating Parsons’ anniversary.

A post from Alliance received over 300 likes in just two hours.

Laura Gordon, Alliance’s commercial director, remarked that Mr. Parsons clearly brought a lot of joy to the store.
