According to a report by genealogy company Ancestry, Taylor Swift, 34, has been revealed to have a relationship with the iconic American poet Emily Dickinson

According to Today, the girlfriend of Travis Kelce is related to the iconic American poet Emily Dickinson.

“Swift and Dickinson both descend from a 17th-century English immigrant (Swift’s ninth great-grandfather and Dickinson’s sixth great-grandfather, who was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut),” Ancestry said.

“Taylor Swift’s ancestors remained in Connecticut for six generations until her part of the family eventually settled in northwestern Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line.”

Ancestry revealed that Swift and Dickinson are distant relatives, specifically sixth cousins, three times removed. Both artists can trace their lineage back to a 17th-century English immigrant who settled in Windsor, Connecticut, serving as Swift's ninth great-grandfather and Dickinson's sixth great-grandfather.

While Swift's family remained in Connecticut for several generations before eventually moving to northwestern Pennsylvania and marrying into the Swift family line, Dickinson, who passed away in 1886, left behind a prolific body of work, including nearly 1,800 poems. As of November 2023, Swift has amassed an impressive collection of 243 songs, both written and co-written.

Taylor Swift had previously made reference to the legendary poet during her acceptance speech.

In the speech after winning the Songwriter-Artist of the Decade Award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International in 2022, Taylor previously made reference to the legendary poet.

She said: “If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the quill genre.”

It is speculated that Taylor's ninth studio album, Evermore, was inspired by the poet since it coincided with her birthday on December 10.

The 2020 release's title also bore similarities to one of Dickinson's most famous works, titled "One Sister Have I In Our House."

Curiously, the concluding word of the poem shares a striking resemblance to the album title, as the line reads:  'From out the wide night's numbers — Sue forevermore!'

During her Eras Tour concert in Singapore, Taylor made an exciting announcement that added to the anticipation surrounding her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department. She revealed that the album will feature a bonus track named "The Black Dog."
