A Tesla Cybertruck owner revealed surprising cost of driving 340 miles on a full charge, sparking discussions about the vehicle’s efficiency.
The Tesla Cybertruck has sparked a lot of discussions since its launch in November 2023.
Many people have commented on its unique design, which some find appealing while others consider it unattractive.
The Cybertruck has received mixed reviews about its appearance.
However, one owner shared surprising details about the cost of driving this electric vehicle.
Cybertruck owner reveals eye-watering expense for 340-mile journey on one full charge
Joe Fay, a TikTok user and Cybertruck owner, recently provided details about how much it costs him to charge his vehicle.
He reported that he charged his Cybertruck a total of 6,689 kilowatt-hours (kWh) over a year, from December 2023 to November 2024.
For many, this number might not mean much, so Fay broke it down into financial terms.
He revealed that the total cost of charging his Cybertruck for the entire year was only $436, which is about £347.
This figure is quite impressive considering the range and power of the vehicle.
Fay explained that he fully charged his Cybertruck’s 126 kWh battery approximately 53 times to reach this total energy usage.
@jf.okay the price will SHOCK you…
Average cost per charge
To understand the average cost of each charge, Fay divided the total amount he spent by the number of times he charged his vehicle.
This calculation showed that each full charge cost him around $8.22, or about £6.55.
In comparison, filling up a traditional petrol car can be much more expensive.
The average cost to fill a petrol tank is around £79, while a diesel tank averages about £82.
This stark difference raises questions about the savings of driving an electric vehicle.
Electric vehicles offer significant fuel savings.
Fay also highlighted the savings he experienced by driving the Cybertruck.
He estimated that he saved about $2,573, or £2,051, in fuel costs over the same period.
This figure shows that owning a Cybertruck can be financially beneficial compared to traditional fuel-powered vehicles.
Another owner, Bilal Sattar, shared his own experiences with the Cybertruck.
He reported spending $573.55, or £452.26, on charging after driving nearly 10,000 miles in six months.
When comparing his costs to those of a gas-powered vehicle, he calculated that he saved about $1,800, or £1,419, by choosing the electric option.
The Cybertruck isn’t available in the UK.
While the Tesla Cybertruck has gained a lot of attention in the U.S., it is not yet available in the UK.
The price of the Cybertruck ranges from around $74,000 to $94,000, which translates to about £59,000 to £74,000.
This means that potential UK buyers may need to consider whether the savings on fuel can offset the initial investment in the vehicle.
