On the X platform, a Tesla driver shared a solution for what to do when the battery is so low that the car won’t open, gaining attention.

When your Tesla battery is fully depleted, you might be unable to open the car. But don’t worry—there’s a way to get it back on the road.

If the battery dies on your Tesla, it won’t function at all. You’ll be unable to open the doors or start the car, leaving you with the prospect of towing it to a charging station.

Fortunately, one Tesla owner shared a clever solution for this issue in a video on X (formerly Twitter). This method allows you to jumpstart the battery and regain access, even if the car appears “bricked.”

Locate the Jumpstart Hole

There’s a small hole at the front of your Tesla, meant for battery servicing. Use it to connect jumper cables.

Attach Jumper Cables

Connect the jumper’s positive cable to the car’s red positive terminal, and the negative to the black terminal.

Once connected, the frunk should pop open. Remove any covers under the hood to access the 12V battery.

Complete the Jumpstart

Attach the red and black cables to the corresponding terminals on the 12V battery. This will start charging the car.

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media

Tesla owner Jeremy’s solution for dealing with a completely dead Tesla battery left viewers stunned.

One person said: Just bost the window and use the inside handle

A second wrote: You could buy a gasoline car and never have this problem.

While a third commented: So many EVs natural gas is the only solutio.

Another added: Buy another car, problem solved.

Some Tesla owners have faced similar issues. One former owner posted a video explaining how his dead battery led to a costly repair—$26,000 for a replacement battery—because he was unable to access his paperwork locked inside the car.

Tesla’s Model S manual: avoiding battery issues

The Tesla Model S manual warns owners to keep their vehicle plugged in regularly. Leaving it unplugged for extended periods could cause the low-voltage battery to die, making it impossible to jumpstart.

If you own a Tesla, understanding these troubleshooting steps can save you time and money. In case of battery failure, a simple jumpstart can restore access and help you get back on the road.
