According to CNN, Australian father Lucas Helmke has set a new Guinness World Record by doing more than 3,206 push-ups in just one hour."

In November 2022, Lucas Helmke performed more than 3,206 push-ups at the Iron Underground gym in Brisbane, Australia - the equivalent of 53 per minute.

However, it wasn't until March that he was recognized by Guinness World Records for breaking the record for the number of push-ups done in an hour.

"It's finally here," Helmke said as he shared the Guinness World Records-certified image on Facebook.

Helmke, a 33-year-old accountant, told Guinness World Records that he wanted to "create inspiration" for his one-year-old son and prove to him that "nothing is impossible".

To be a world record, every Helmke pushup had to be perfect. Despite breaking the world record, he was also rejected for not doing 34 push-ups correctly. The Australian man said it took two to three years of practice to set the record.

Before being surpassed by Helmke, the world record for most push-ups was held by Daniel Scali, who did 3,182 push-ups in April 2022.

This is the fourth time in the past three years that the push-up world record has been broken. Helmke's record holder for the first hour of push-ups is all from Australia.

After breaking the record for push-ups, Helmke said he was looking to break other records. "This is the first record I want to achieve. Then I will aim for other physical records," Helmke said.
