Theme park shuts down after visitor notices crack in support beam

In North Carolina, while people were on the ride, a crack in the support pillar of a roller coaster was spotted by a park visitor.

After discovering a crack in the Fury 325 giga roller coaster at Carowinds amusement park, Jeremy Wagner took to Facebook to share his findings. He immediately notified officials, and as a result, the theme park was officially shut down.

According to a report, during his visit to the Carowinds amusement park in North Carolina, Jeremy Wagner noticed a crack in one of the support pillars on the Fury 325 ride.

He posted on Facebook: "I hope they shut this ride down after I reported this video at guest services. It moves two to four feet.”

He added: "It was still running when we left. [We] got confirmation they shut it down for investigation."

According to the Mirror, the video shows the support beam, which holds the ride high above the ground, visibly moving as the riders zoom past,  unaware of the issue.

In the video, the crack and the visible sway of the rollercoaster's support can be seen as it speeds past. Jeremy received praise from someone who commended him for potentially saving lives through his recording.

According to Mirror, Carowinds' spokesperson stated that the Fury 325 would undergo safety checks before resuming operations. However, the rest of the park will remain open. 

The spokesperson said in a statement "Carowinds closed Fury 325 after park personnel became aware of a crack at the top of a steel support pillar,"

The ride remains closed as the park's maintenance team conducts a thorough inspection until repairs are completed. The spokesperson supposed they prioritize safety above all else and sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding of our esteemed guests throughout this procedure.

According to the amusement park’s website report, with speeds reaching up to 152 km/h and a peak height of 99 meters, and a dramatic 81-degree drop. Fury 325 is known as “the tallest, fastest, longest giga coaster in North America.".
