A would-be thief called 911 on himself after getting injured during a failed car robbery, mistakenly believing he was trapped inside.
In a strange turn of events, a man in Texas called 911 on himself while trying to steal from a car dealership.
This incident happened when Jeremiah Megallon, a 38-year-old man, injured himself during a break-in.
Instead of escaping, he found himself in a tricky situation and thought he was trapped.

Thief calls 911 on himself after getting injured and thinking he was trapped during car dealership break-in
Jeremiah Megallon attempted to break into a Dodge dealership in Tyler, Texas.
He tried to enter by throwing a rock through one of the windows. However, as he climbed through the broken glass, he cut himself.
The injury was serious enough that he felt he needed help. Instead of running away, he made the unusual decision to call the police for assistance.
After entering the dealership, Megallon became confused. He believed he was stuck inside the building and could not find a way out.

This was surprising because there were several unlocked doors available for him to use.
Despite having options, he panicked and called 911, begging for help.
Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh reported that he explained his situation to the dispatcher.
“He said he had broken into the Patterson Dodge dealership in an attempt to steal a car but was unable to get out of the building.”
“He had cuts from breaking a window at the dealership and crawling through it.
“Unfortunately for him, there were several unlocked doors he could have used to get out,” Erbaugh added. “After 26 years here, truth is stranger than fiction.”

Police arrived quickly to evaluate the situation thoroughly.
When the police arrived, they found Megallon injured and in distress. He had cuts from crawling through the broken glass.
Instead of being a clever thief, he became a person in need of medical attention.
Officers quickly assessed his injuries and called for an ambulance to take him to a nearby hospital.
What did the thief steal?
Interestingly, while Megallon tried to commit a robbery, the only thing he successfully took was candy.
Reports stated that he grabbed some candy from the salesperson’s desk before getting injured.
This small theft was overshadowed by his larger failure to steal a car.
The dealership staff were amused by the situation, as it was not what they expected from a break-in.
