On May 8, following the Vatican’s announcement of Pope Leo XIV, Anonymous shared a controversial post targeting Trump’s MAGA movement.
The group posted on X (formerly Twitter): “The new Pope says MAGA is not Christian.”
This was a reference to resurfaced posts from Pope Leo XIV—formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, criticizing Trump-era immigration policies.
The pope’s past comments highlighted his opposition to MAGA ideology.
Pope Leo XIV specifically pushed back against Vice President JD Vance’s comments about Christians needing to “prioritize” their love for others.
The pope responded in 2022: “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.”

The added: “Now add Musk, pulling the strings in the US government’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency, slashing public programs while sucking up power, and we’ve got the perfect storm for democratic destruction.”
