Donald Trump unveiled the $175 billion Golden Dome missile defense system, issuing a stern warning to global powers about U.S. security.
President Trump unveiled the costly “Golden Dome” missile defense to protect the U.S. from global missile threats.
During a press event on May 20, Trump revealed plans to deploy advanced weaponry in space for the first time.
The system aims to intercept missiles at any phase of their trajectory.
This announcement marks a major shift, making space a crucial focus for U.S. national security defense strategy.

‘Golden Dome’ project aims for unprecedented lobal protection
According to Trump, the Golden Dome will offer unmatched protection by detecting and neutralizing missile attacks anywhere on the globe.
The president stressed the urgent threat missiles pose, calling them the nation’s most catastrophic danger.
Trump claimed the system will be operational within his term, aiming to finish it in under four years.
Massive budget set with an initial $25 billion down payment
The project carries a hefty price tag, with Trump disclosing an expected cost of $175 billion.
An initial “down payment” of $25 billion has already been allocated to jumpstart development.
Independent estimates warn of much higher costs. The Congressional Budget Office says space components alone may exceed $500 billion in twenty years.

Trump stays confident despite the costs, saying the investment ensures safety from foreign missile attacks.
He emphasized the Golden Dome would extend America’s defense beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
The U.S. will station weapons in outer space for this purpose for the first time.
He said to reporters: “We will have the best system ever built.
“As you know, we helped Israel with theirs and that’s been very successful, and now we have technology that is even [further] advanced than that.”
Trump framed the initiative as a continuation of Ronald Reagan’s vision. He portrayed the Golden Dome as the final step to eliminate future missile threats.

Trump warns rest of the world with $175 billion ‘Golden Dome’ missile defense announcement plan
During the announcement, a graphic behind Trump showed a dome over the U.S.
It included the warning: “This is a Very Dangerous World. We’re going to protect our citizens like never before!”
This visual emphasized U.S. defense dominance and served as a warning to other nations.
Trump’s rhetoric suggested a readiness to defend U.S. interests vigorously against any hostile powers.

China responds with strong criticism and concern
Not surprisingly, China voiced serious objections to the Golden Dome plan.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning condemned the system, stating it carried “strong offensive implications” and could destabilize global security.
She accused the U.S. of prioritizing its own absolute security at the expense of other countries’ safety.
She warned that this move could increase tensions and spark an arms race in space.
“The United States, in pursuing a ‘U.S.-first’ policy, is obsessed with seeking absolute security for itself,” Ning said.
“This violates the principle that the security of all countries should not be compromised and undermines global strategic balance and stability. China is seriously concerned about this.”
