Tyra Banks, 51, recently opened up about her move to Australia, calling it a “dream come true.”
The former supermodel discussed her life Down Under during a guest appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends. Banks revealed that her decision was influenced by her growing ice cream business, SMiZE and Dream, which she launched in 2021.
“I’ve been going to Australia a lot because we were making a lot of our ice cream there in a big facility,” Banks explained. “I just fell in love with it.”

Banks, along with her partner Louis Bélanger-Martin, realized that their business was thriving in Australia.
After visiting frequently, they made the decision to move to Sydney full-time with her 9-year-old son, York Banks Asla, whom she shares with ex Erik Asla.

She shared her love for Tumbalong Park, a popular location in Sydney.
“People come from all over Sydney to enjoy this park,” she says in the video.
“They have what we call a little mini water park. There’s swings and stuff for kids. There’s this new place that they’ve built for the bigger kids that you really can’t get your kid away from. So be careful when you come here.”

Banks expressed her excitement about growing her business in Australia, including the opening of a new “3,000-square-foot flagship store” in Sydney. She emphasized that her ice cream venture was a lifelong dream and that Australia played a central role in making that dream a reality.
“Look at the water, so amazing. And over there is where my future ice cream dream is going to come true,” she said.
“Making ice cream has been a lifelong dream of mine and it’s all happening right here in Australia. This idea is a tribute to my mama Carolyn.”
She also shared her passion for Sydney’s cultural scene. She revealed that she regularly attends live shows at the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Banks also touched on a personal tragedy she faced in January when her Los Angeles home was destroyed in the California fires.
“I lost my house,” said Banks. “I haven’t really talked about it, but, yeah, I have,” she said during an appearance on the Australian morning show “Sunrise.”“I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me,” she explained. “I feel like there’s a lot of people that need that attention, so I haven’t really talked about it, but I can’t sit here and not tell the truth that, yeah, we lost our house.’
Despite the setback, Banks chose to focus on her positive new life in Australia, where she feels at peace with her family and growing business.
