The Vatican announces sainthood for a teen, marking a historic move shortly after the death of Pope Francis.

The Vatican has announced a significant update regarding the sainthood of Carlo Acutis, a teenager whose canonization was scheduled for this week.

This announcement follows the death of Pope Francis, who was expected to officiate the ceremony.

Who was Carlo Acutis?

Carlo Acutis was born in London but spent most of his life in Milan, Italy.

He was deeply devoted to the Catholic Church and dedicated much of his time to helping those in need.

Tragically, he passed away from leukemia at the young age of 15 in 2006.

Despite his short life, he has been under consideration for sainthood due to two miracles attributed to him.

Several miracles are attributed to Carlo Acutis.

The Vatican recognized Acutis for two miraculous events that have contributed to his path toward sainthood.

The first miracle involved a young boy named Matheus Vianna from Brazil. Matheus was suffering from a congenital disorder that posed serious health risks.

His mother sought help from the church, and during a blessing, Father Marcelo Tenorio touched Carlo’s clothing to Matheus, who then reportedly recovered completely.

The second miracle occurred when a Costa Rican woman, who had suffered a severe brain hemorrhage after a car accident, began to breathe again after her mother prayed at Carlo’s coffin.

Medical professionals had previously declared her condition critical, but she made an unexpected recovery shortly after the prayer.

Canonization ceremony has been postponed after Pope Francis’ recent passing

The Vatican had planned to canonize Carlo Acutis during a ceremony on Sunday, April 27.

However, following the death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday, the canonization has been temporarily postponed.

The Vatican spokesperson confirmed this decision, stating that many church functions are put on hold when a pope dies.

The spokesperson said, “Following the death of the Sovereign Pontiff Francis, we inform you that the Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis… has been postponed.”

This decision aligns with established protocol within the Catholic Church during periods of mourning.

His legacy of faith and service endures.

Carlo Acutis was known for his strong faith and charitable spirit from a young age.

He received his first communion at the age of seven and often donated money to the poor.

As a teenager, he spent his evenings cooking meals for the homeless, earning him the nickname “God’s influencer.”

Acutis was also passionate about technology and used it to promote his faith.

He created a website called “Eucharistic Miracles of the World,” where he documented various miracles associated with the Eucharist.

His work aimed to spread awareness of these miracles and digitalize some operations of his local church.
