On social media, many viewers stunned after a viral video captured a moment showing Tesla owners change logos to avoid vandalism amid Elon Musk controversy.
Tesla owners replace logos to distance from Elon Musk
Tesla owners are swapping their car logos to avoid vandalism.
Many have replaced the Tesla emblem with Toyota, Mazda, or Honda logos. Photos of these modified cars have gone viral, sparking debate online.
The trend follows growing controversy surrounding Elon Musk.
His ties to the U.S. president and leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have drawn criticism. Some Tesla owners fear being targeted due to Musk’s political stance.
Viral images show tesla cars with altered logos
On social media, a user named SKRT shared an image on Facebook showing some Tesla owners changing logos to avoid vandalism amid the Elon Musk controversy.
While, several viral photos depict Tesla vehicles with makeshift brand swaps. One image shows a Tesla Cybertruck with a Toyota logo crudely pasted on the back.
They wrote: “Some Tesla owners appear to be rebranding their vehicles with different logos, possibly to avoid vandalism.”
This sparked amusement and criticism online.
In the comment, some argue the logo swaps are a defensive measure against vandalism.
While, others believe embarrassment over Musk’s political actions is the real motivation.
Some also mocked car owners for their attempt to dissociate from Elon Musk.
One person said: Many Tesla owners bought their cars before Elon got political. They can’t just sell them at a loss.
A second wrote: The ‘ we bought it before he went nuts’ sticker works as well…
While a third commented: Like people can’t tell it’s a tesla by looking at it… Especially the Cyber brick.. “it’s a Toyota I swear” while it’s shaped like an obtuse angle.
Another added: I had no idea Musk was like this.
Someone else said: No its old foto, just for fun. Tesla is one of the best EV.
Musk’s role in government fuels backlash
Musk’s push for government spending cuts has drawn backlash. Critics argue his influence undermines elected officials’ roles in policy-making.
Additionally, his presence at Donald Trump’s inauguration fueled further concerns about business leaders shaping government decisions.
DOGE’s cost-cutting policies have triggered protests.
On March 10, demonstrators gathered outside a Tesla dealership in Manhattan.
Protesters chanted, “Musk has got to go!” The demonstrators were heard chanting in the clip while holding signs that read “Democracy, not Oligarchy” and “Stop the Coup,” alluding to Elon Musk’s role as an unelected Special Government Employee (SGE).
Despite the controversy, Tesla remains a dominant force in the EV market. Whether the backlash will impact sales remains to be seen.
