A woman seeks advice on Reddit after being accused by her mother-in-law of 'ruining' a family dinner during an outing with her husband and in-laws.

In her post, she explained she holds a physically demanding job at a stable, and her family has a naturally high metabolism, leading her to require a substantial amount of food.
Unfortunately, her mother-in-law has a habit of commenting on her eating habits, making her feel uncomfortable. To avoid negative remarks, she usually eats before meeting her in-laws. However, during this particular outing, she hadn't eaten anything beforehand and arrived at the restaurant feeling quite hungry.
She then decided to order a steak platter meant for two people to satisfy her hunger. Although she admitted that it was pricey, it wasn't the most expensive item ordered at the table.
However, things took an unexpected turn when her mother-in-law accused her of seeking attention and expressed discomfort over her ability to finish the meal.
To make matters worse, her mother-in-law made derogatory remarks about women's eating habits, which made her brother-in-law and father-in-law feel uneasy, stating that 'a woman shouldn't eat that much.' The woman felt offended by these insensitive comments.
Subsequently, her mother-in-law insisted that she foot the entire bill, citing the cost of her meal as the reason, despite others at the table ordering even pricier items.
In response to her post on Reddit's Am I the A**hole page, fellow Redditors were overwhelmingly supportive of her, asserting that she was not the a**hole.
One person commented Seriously the woman ordered what she wanted to eat, ate the food, and was happy to pay for what she ate. Freeloading wangers need to just do the same, unless of course they were advised in advance it was the woman's treat in which case she should be paying- that however wasn't the case here!
Another wrote: As long as she paid for the steak meal, she's fine and MIL wanted a free meal.
Someone else added: First off her husband should have her back no matter what she ordered, and he should pay for his and her meal and leave. If he lets his mom, father-in-law, and others treat his wife like that over a steak then she needs a new husband.
