Kendra Moore, known online as kennnomo, was on the plane when she spotted the hotspot name.

While trying to connect her device to the internet, she noticed a network titled “Bomb on flight AA2863.”

This was alarming because AA2863 was the flight number she was on.

Kendra immediately felt uneasy and knew she had to act quickly.

In a TikTok video, Kendra shared her experience, explaining how she froze for a moment after seeing the name.

She decided it was important to report it, even though it meant she might miss her connecting flight.

She told the passengers sitting next to her about the name, and one of them took the initiative to alert the cabin crew.

Authorities acted quickly to investigate the situation.

After the cabin crew was informed, they contacted the flight captain, who took the situation seriously.

Kendra documented the hotspot name by taking a photo on her laptop and a screenshot on her phone.

She also noted that the hotspot had a rotating Wi-Fi address, which could make it more challenging to trace.

Within no time, authorities were notified, and the plane was grounded.

Passengers were told to leave all their belongings on board while the police investigated the situation.

Kendra recalled that one of the officers addressed the passengers, saying, “If this is a joke, I can handle a joke. But if it’s not, there will be serious consequences.”

All passengers underwent thorough checks and interviews.

As part of the investigation, all passengers were escorted back to security for re-screening.

They had to show their devices and Wi-Fi addresses to the police.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) confirmed that everyone and their luggage underwent thorough checks.

Kendra and the two passengers who reported the hotspot name were interviewed by police.

They explained what they had seen and why they thought it was important to report it.

Meanwhile, the flight was delayed for over four hours as the authorities worked to ensure everyone’s safety.

“One of the cops said, ‘I’m gonna tell you guys exactly what happened and give any of you the opportunity to come forward’.

“He said, ‘there was a hotspot named bomb on Flight AA2863, if this is a joke, I can handle a joke. We can talk about a joke.

“We can get through something if this is a joke. But if it’s not, there’s gonna be more serious consequences.”

Passenger reactions

The passengers were understandably frustrated by the delay, but many felt relieved that Kendra had acted so quickly.

She mentioned that some passengers were so shaken that they chose not to reboard the flight when it was cleared to depart.

“Half of the plane was empty when we finally took off,” she said.

Despite the inconvenience, Kendra noted that everyone felt safe with how American Airlines handled the situation.

The airline took the necessary precautions to ensure that no threats were present before allowing passengers to board again.
