In a video shared online, Nombulelo shows two slices of bread with rat remains, including hair, guts, and the tail.

Unfortunately, the staff there advised her to contact the supplier directly, which was PepsiCo.

Nombulelo emailed the company with photos and videos of the bread.

Shortly after, she received a call from a representative from PepsiCo, who assured her that they would investigate the matter.

The supplier responded to the matter

Cornel Vermeulen from PepsiCo South Africa acknowledged the incident as an “isolated case.”

He stated that the loaf of SASKO Low GI Seeded Whole Wheat bread did not meet the company’s stringent quality standards.

This incident is not the first of its kind.

There have been other reports of similar discoveries in food items.

For instance, a tradesman in Brisbane, Australia, once found a rat in a wrap he bought from a bakery.

At first, he thought he was chewing on some gristle, only to realize it was a rat.

The horror of that moment has haunted him ever since.

Such incidents raise serious concerns about food safety and hygiene practices in food production.

Consumers trust that the products they purchase are safe to eat, and finding a rodent in food is a nightmare scenario for many.

Many couldn’t believe how a rat could end up in the bread.

Some users commented about the lack of safety in food production, while others sympathized with Nombulelo, calling the incident horrifying and unacceptable.

I wouldn’t be able to come back from that, one user said.

At least it was cooked. And It has good protein in it, the second user joked.

Wouldn’t she saw it before she ate it or when she took it out of the wrapper. A little hard to believe that she start eating it, the third user commented.

I will be checking my entire loaf from now on. Ewwww, another said.

Oh nooo. I will never recover from this trauma, someone wrote.
