In Bolivia, an 8-year-old boy tried to become Spider-Man by provoking a black widow spider to bite him.

This incident happened when the boy was playing near a river and found a dangerous spider hiding under a rock.

His love for the superhero led him to make a risky choice that could have had serious consequences.

While exploring outdoors, the boy spotted a black widow spider, known for its venomous bite.

He remembered that in the Spider-Man movies, Peter Parker, the main character, gained his superpowers after being bitten by a spider.

Inspired by this story, the boy thought that if he could also be bitten, he might gain superpowers too.

The boy carefully picked up the spider and placed it on the back of his hand without thinking about the dangers.

He then provoked the spider until it bit him.

The black widow’s venom is very potent, about fifteen times stronger than that of a rattlesnake, which makes it a particularly dangerous creature.

After the bite, the boy put the spider in a jar and went home. At first, he did not tell anyone what had happened.

However, soon he began to feel unwell.

He experienced body aches and severe muscle cramps. His condition worsened, but he still kept the incident a secret from his parents.

Eventually, his mother noticed that something was wrong. She insisted he tell her what had happened.

After some hesitation, the boy confessed to the spider bite. His mother quickly took him to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors evaluated the boy’s condition.

They recognized that he had been bitten by a black widow spider and immediately administered an antidote serum.

This serum is designed to counteract the effects of the spider’s venom and helps to neutralize the poison in the body.

Thankfully, the treatment worked quickly, and the boy’s condition stabilized.

Health authorities expressed deep concern over the incident.

Ernesto Vásquez, who heads the Zoonotic Diseases Programme for the local health service, emphasized the importance of understanding the risks associated with such actions.

He noted that the boy did not consider the dangerous consequences of provoking a venomous spider.

After recovering, the boy shared his reasons for allowing the spider to bite him.

He simply wanted to become Spider-Man. His mother mentioned that he is a huge fan of the character and loves to watch all the movies about him.

This is not the first time a young boy intentionally gets bitten by a black widow.

In 2020, a similar event occurred in Bolivia when three children, aged 8 to 12, also encouraged black widow spiders to bite them for the same reason.

Thankfully, doctors were able to treat those children as well.

These incidents highlight a concerning trend among young fans who might idolize superheroes and take their actions too literally.
