Sometimes we even think they grow that long overnight.

When we scratch our necks or touch our arms, we sometimes suddenly see long, thin white hairs that seem to have grown overnight.

If this happens to you too, don't worry, you're not the only person on this planet experiencing this phenomenon.

While many of us have experienced it, there's no specific term for the random, thin hairs we find on our bodies. However, there are some theories to explain this phenomenon.

Dermatologists believe that abnormally long single hairs are mainly due to hormonal and genetic factors that make them grow longer than other hairs on the body.

More specifically, random hormonal fluctuations cause certain hair follicles to remain in the "anagen phase" for an extended period, during which they grow actively. Therefore, these isolated hairs have more time to grow.

These hormonal fluctuations can occur in different places, such as the chin or the T-zone... If these hairs bother you, dermatologists recommend tweezing them the usual way.

Some of us suddenly discover these unusually long hairs and have a feeling they grew overnight. However, this may just be our perception.

These hairs are very fine and almost the same color as the skin, making them difficult to detect. We didn't even notice them. That's why sometimes it takes us a long time to find those hairs again.
