Drivers complain that their $80,000 Tesla cars rusted quickly after just 2 days of being exposed to the rain.

The Tesla Cybertrucks, priced at $80,000, are reportedly experiencing issues with rusting after just two days in the rain, according to a claim made by a driver.

Several owners have noticed corrosion forming on the stainless steel exterior of the electric vehicles, with specks and markings appearing.

This raises concerns about the weatherproofing and durability of the Cybertruck's design.

$80,000 Tesla car corroded after two days of being immersed in the rain

According to a driver's claim, Elon Musk's $80,000 Tesla Cybertrucks are experiencing rusting issues after only two days of exposure to rain.

This revelation has raised concerns among owners of the vehicle, as the stainless steel exteriors are showing signs of damage.

Several images have been shared, illustrating small specks and marks on the surface of the trucks.

The reported rusting problems have caught the attention of Cybertruck owners who recently purchased the high-priced electric vehicles.

One owner, named Will, took to a Cybertruck forum to share his experience.

He mentioned that he bought his Tesla truck on February 1 and noticed signs of corrosion on the metal after just 11 days of use, during which he had driven a mere 381 miles.

Seeking a solution, Will took his Cybertruck to a repair facility, only to be informed that the necessary tools for fixing the exterior were not available.

He was told that it would take approximately one month to receive the required equipment.

Will also shared images online, showcasing the corrosion spots on his new Cybertruck. Even after washing the vehicle, the small markings remained visible.

He noted that the issue seemed to be more pronounced on the top metal that rises above the truck bed, although the spots appeared throughout the metal surface.

Another owner, posting on the same forum under the name Raxar, reported a similar problem.

They picked up their Cybertruck on the same day as Will and were informed by an advisor that the vehicle developed orange rust marks in the rain, which required buffing out.

While stainless steel is generally rust-resistant, it is not completely immune to corrosion. Exposure to damaging chemicals, saline, grease, or prolonged heat can cause rusting.

However, in the case of these corroded Cybertrucks, owners claim that the vehicles were only exposed to the elements for a few days.

Some theories have emerged online, suggesting that the rust specks could be fallout from the environment or a result of a chemical reaction.

Previously, Elon Musk had announced that Tesla Cybertruck owners would be able to choose a tungsten carbide coating as an optional add-on to protect their vehicles from corrosion.

However, the exact pricing details for this additional feature have not been disclosed.
