The strange picture, shared on social media, left viewers baffled.

The image captured on Google Maps showed a 'ghost' plane seemingly crashed in the north Queensland rainforest.

This mysterious plane was seen nestled in the Cardwell Range, located near the coast between Townsville and Cairns, leaving users searching for answers.

While some suggest the jet was flying improbably low, others believe it's a 'ghost' image.

However, Google has not confirmed the existence of this 'ghost' plane, further adding to its mystery.

Upon magnification, the image appears to resemble an intact standard Airbus A320 or Boeing 737, both popular makes used by airlines.

The jet, described as gun-metal grey, seems to be facing south on a heading that would take it well to the east of Townsville.

However, Google has yet to confirm this.

On social media, many are baffled and searching for answers about the origin of the 'ghost' plane.

One person said: Imagine horror movie called ghost plane...

A second wrote: “Ghost plane” transporting some substance from colombia to the usa

While a third commented: That is just a satellite image of flying plane in the middle of jungle

Someone else said: Right image is a turbo prop in the jungle. Left image is a 2 engined airliner flying over a jungle.

Another added: That's clearly not on the ground. Transporting some Columbian party powder probably.

Previously, an abandoned plane was seen on the sea, leaving many baffled

A unique aircraft has been found abandoned on a beach. The aircraft stands out for its unique look and fascinating history. In fact, technically, it's not even an aircraft.

This Russian MD-160 ship-aircraft hybrid was designed in 1975. It was used by the Soviet and Russian navies starting in 1987 during the final stages of the Cold War.

The aircraft played an important role in the Wings in the Ground (WIG) program.

The aircraft was decommissioned in the late 1990s and abandoned at the abandoned Kaspiysk Naval Base. Decades later, the "Caspian Monster" was finally released from storage in 2020.

Although it was intended to be displayed in Patriot Park, the 23-meter-long giant aircraft (larger than a jumbo jet) remained on the sand dunes.

It set off from the Derbent Naval Base in Dagestan and crossed the Caspian Sea in 14 hours with the aim of turning it into a tourist attraction.
