On social media, YouTuber MrBeast is facing backlash after tipping a waitress with a brand new car she can’t drive.

YouTuber MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, is facing backlash online after gifting a waitress a brand-new car.

However, the gesture has sparked controversy because the recipient, Amy, can’t drive.

While MrBeast is famous for his over-the-top acts of generosity, this particular tip has divided opinions.

Mr Beast called out for tipping the waitress a car

In a video posted on Instagram and TikTok, MrBeast surprised Amy, a waitress, with the keys to a brand-new black Toyota Sedan.

The 24-year-old YouTuber excitedly shared that Amy had been getting to work without a car for months.

“Amy’s been getting to work without a car for months, thanks to you we changed that,” he wrote. The car, wrapped in branding for his chocolate bar company, Feastables, was clearly a promotional gift.

Amy shocked by MrBeast’s tip despite her inability to drive

When MrBeast asked Amy, “What’s the biggest tip you’ve ever gotten?” she modestly replied, “Like $50.”

Then he handed her the keys to the new car. Amy, visibly overwhelmed, began to cry.

“I wasn’t expecting you to cry!” MrBeast exclaimed. In her state of shock, Amy confessed, “I don’t even know how to drive.” She went on to explain how she had been late to work that day because of slow Uber service.

“I was literally late to work today because the Uber was slow,” she said.

“I’m in such shock right now. I don’t even know how to drive.”

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media

The video has received mixed reactions. Some followers criticized the car’s branding, calling it an advertisement for MrBeast’s brand.

One Twitter user wrote: Love MrBeast but he gave her a car with an ad on it.

Another TikTok comment said: MrBeast you can do better than that. Why wrap it like that?

While a third commented: Did he also pay for the taxes, registration and insurance? If not then his gift just cost her money.

Another added: Giving a car is pretty dumb actually. It’s all for the optics but money is better as a tip in every situation cause the waitress might just buy a cheaper car and use some of the money for bills

However, many continue to support MrBeast’s generosity

Despite the criticism, many people praised MrBeast for his generosity.

One person said: He makes loads of money and he shares it around. I call that a decent human being. Good on him.

Another added: I think at this point anyone who talking crap about MrBeast is just jealous. He has done a lot of amazing things to give back and help people.

Someone else said: What a man does with his money is his business. Good on him? Why are people so critical of peoples generosity? Jealous because it’s not them being a recipient??

While MrBeast’s latest giveaway may have been controversial, it highlights his ongoing commitment to surprising people with life-changing gifts.
