Faith and Hope Baxter, rare “Momo” twins, overcame a one percent survival chance at birth and share how their parents distinguish them.

Faith and Hope Baxter are twins who have an incredible story to tell.

Born in Ohio, they are known as “Momo” twins. This means they share the same placenta and amniotic sac.

This condition is very rare and happens in only one percent of all twins.

The doctors gave them just a one percent chance of surviving at birth.

Extremely rare ‘Momo’ twins who were given just one percent survival rate at birth

When Faith and Hope were born, they faced many challenges

Their mother had to give birth two months early to give them the best chance of survival.

This decision was made after doctors warned that carrying them to full term could be dangerous for both babies.

This meant that the twins spent their first six weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

During that time, Faith had a collapsed lung, and Hope had heart problems.

The doctors worked hard to care for them, and their parents remained hopeful.

They are deeply grateful for life.

Hope often reflects on how grateful she is to be alive. She describes their survival as a miracle.

“Every day is a gift for us,” she says.

On their birthday, both sisters remember how far they have come. They feel proud to be together and healthy.

How does their family identify the twins?

As identical twins, some people might think it would be hard to tell them apart.

However, Faith and Hope have a special difference.

Hope has heterochromia, which means she has two different colored eyes. One eye is blue, and the other is brown.

This feature helped their parents easily identify which twin was which as they grew up.

Growing up, the twins had a unique system.

When one twin was at preschool, the other stayed at home with their parents.

Their parents wanted to ensure that Faith and Hope did not become overly dependent on each other.

This approach helped them develop their own identities while still being close.

The twins pursue medical careers

Now at 24 years old, both twins are pursuing careers in the medical field.

Hope is working as a dental nurse and is on track to complete her studies at Ohio State University by 2026.

Faith is training to become a doctor at VCOM-Carolinas in South Carolina.

The twins are excited to help others in their future careers, and they often support each other in their studies.
