‘I like the Pope. And I like the Pope’s brother. You know one of the Pope’s brothers is a major MAGA fan… He’s got MAGA. He’s got Trump. I look forward to getting him to the White House. I want to shake his hand. I want to give him a big hug,’ Trump told reporters.
The visit came after Trump’s remarks on Capitol Hill, where he praised Prevost’s loyalty to the MAGA movement. He also affectionately connected him to his brother, Pope Leo.

Pope Leo’s past social media posts included criticism of Trump and J.D. Vance.
In contrast, his brother Louis Prevost vocally supported Trump and frequently criticized Democrats.
Louis, a 73-year-old retired Navy veteran from Florida, drew public interest after his brother became Pope Leo XIV earlier this year.

The White House released photos of Prevost and his wife, Deborah, smiling beside Trump and Vance in the Oval Office, with Bibles gifted after the meeting.
A White House spokesperson confirmed to *Daily Mail* that the meeting was “great,” and that both guests “left with Bibles in hand.”
Also attending the meeting were JD Vance’s wife Usha, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and his wife Jeanette—rounding out the pro-Trump delegation.
Later, Pope Leo personally greeted the group in Rome after Mass and shared a heartfelt hug with his older brother, Louis.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Prevost admitted he had toned down his online activity since his brother became pope, trying not to cause controversy.
‘I can tell you, since then, I’ve been very quiet, biting my tongue,’ he said. ‘I don’t want to create waves that don’t need to be there because I’m a MAGA type and I have my beliefs.’
Louis explained that his prior social media comments were often meant to “stir the pot,” comparing his style to Trump’s brash political rhetoric.
“Sometimes I like to stir things up. I think Trump does it too—just for fun and debate,” he added, laughing during the interview.
Prevost served alongside steve bannon in the Navy, strengthening his MAGA ties
Louis Prevost revealed an intriguing connection to Trump’s inner circle.
Additionally, he also shared that he once served aboard the same Navy ship as Steve Bannon.
“I know Steve Bannon. I don’t know if he remembers me, but we were on the same ship,” he said, adding he’d invited Bannon to reunions.

“He’s not left, he’s not right. He takes in everything and finds the middle road,” Louis explained.
Prevost acknowledged that a meeting between Pope Leo and Trump could involve disagreements. However, he believed it would stay respectful and diplomatic.

The American delegation later met Pope Leo at the Vatican, presenting him with a personalized Chicago Bears jersey and a signed letter from President Trump.
The letter extended an invitation to the pontiff to visit the United States—though Prevost said such a meeting could involve “heated conversations.”
“If and when they meet, it won’t be easy. But they’ll talk. And that’s important,” Prevost told Morgan, underscoring his belief in civil dialogue.
