The Horrifying Experience of an Influencer in Manhattan’s West Village

A New York City-based influencer has shared her terrifying experience renting in the upscale West Village neighborhood of Manhattan, claiming that her “cursed” building left her battling illness for six months due to mice and mold. Sophie Balardo, who is famous for showcasing her luxurious New York lifestyle on TikTok, has garnered nearly 22,000 followers.
Health Issues While Living in the “Cursed” Building

In a recent video, Balardo revealed a much less glamorous side of life in this sought-after area. Despite the high rents (around $3,600 per month), she was paying $3,000 a month for her apartment. After moving in, she was faced with a series of strange health problems.
“I have never been so sick in my entire life. I took six rounds of antibiotics in six months. I had random rashes everywhere, and my friend also moved in but had to leave because he got so sick,” Balardo shared in the video.
A Warning to Those Considering Renting in West Village

Balardo explained that she wasn’t the only one to suffer. Many others have reportedly faced similar health issues while living in the building. According to her, the apartment became increasingly damp, especially during bad weather, with water dripping down from the brick walls inside the apartment. She warns anyone thinking of renting in the area to reconsider, stating, “Rent here at your own risk.”
She ends the video with a final warning: “If you’re looking for an apartment in West Village, consider this your warning. Don’t move into this building; you’ll get sick.”
