Oxana's behavior wasn't simply a game or pretend; she genuinely adopted the behaviors of the wild dogs and had been living with them since she was three years old.
Oxana's parents, who were alcoholics, paid little attention to their daughter, leaving her outside in the bitter cold.
In an interview, she revealed that she sought warmth and comfort in the den of her dog, Naima. More stray dogs joined Oxana and together they formed a pack.
Oxana gradually learned and adapted to wild dog's habitats
She later fully adapted to their way of life, walking on all fours, barking, eating from the ground, and even cleaning herself with her tongue.
Remarkably, Oxana claimed that she could communicate with the dogs. She would talk to them, and they would bark in response, creating a unique form of interaction.
The pack grew attached to Oxana, considering her one of their own. When authorities tried to intervene and take her away, the dogs became aggressive and attempted to defend her.
Oxana was taken to a children's facility
After living with the dogs for five years, Oxana was later taken to a children's facility where she underwent specialized therapy.
She then started learning how to walk upright and communicate like a human. However, certain dog-like behaviors still remained.
She occasionally would hide objects given to her, and when feeling lonely, she would crawl on all fours.
The poor mental development caused she had the cognitive abilities of a six-year-old.
