Baba Vanga, a Bulgarian prophetess who passed away in 1996, was worshipped by conspiracy theorists when some of her prophecies turned out to be strangely accurate.
Often referred to as the Nostradamus of the Balkans, she penned annual forecasts until 5079.
The mystic predicts that 2024 will bring a plethora of gloomy occurrences, such as biological attacks, a significant economic catastrophe, terrorist strikes in Europe, and an attempt on Vladimir Putin's life.
According to Sky History, the one forecast that offers any hope is that there would be more medical advancements; yet, how many of Baba Vanga's earlier predictions have come true?
Droughts and floods in 2022
The psychic predicted that rising temperatures in 2022 would cause draught in large cities.
As a result, England experienced its driest July since 1935, causing 11 of the Environment Agency's 14 areas to be in 'drought status', with some hosepipe bans lifted only in December.
Some of Britain's reservoirs disappeared due to the intense heat and lack of precipitation, with river levels measured at only 30% of typical levels.
Record-breaking wildfires and droughts also afflicted other nations, including Portugal, France, and Italy.
'Intense episodes of floods' were another of her 2022 predictions that targeted Australia and Asia.
Once more, this was realized when flooding in March of last year forced Australia to declare a national emergency.
Tens of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes in Sydney due to the disastrous floods that left 22 people dead when record-breaking rain battered the east coast.
9/11
This is probably her most terrifying prediction, Baba Vanga predicted the 9/11 tragedy accurately.
In 1989, she warned that 'the American brethren will collapse after being attacked by the steel birds' and predicted 'horror' for the US.
"Innocent blood will be gushing, and the wolves will be howling in a bush," the statement continues.
When four hijacked planes attacked America on September 11, 2001, murdering almost 3,000 people, the prophecy came true. People were reading "Steel Birds" about the jets.
The Covid-19 pandemic
According to reports, the seer foresaw the COVID-19 outbreak in 1966 and warned that "the coronavirus will be all over us."
Her death
Baba Vanga even accurately foresaw her demise, predicting that she would pass away on August 11, 1996, at the age of 85.
When the psychic from Bulgaria died of breast cancer, it came true, drawing sizable crowds to her funeral.
The 2004 Boxing Day tsunami
There are also other reports that the mystic accurately predicted the terrible 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.
More than 230,000 people were killed in the catastrophe, which devastated Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and other nations.
Baba Vanga is supposed to have said, "A huge wave will cover a big coast covered with people and towns, and everything will disappear beneath the water."
"Everything will melt, just like ice."
The 2000 Kursk disaster
One of Russia's worst naval tragedies, the Kursk submarine tragedy in 2000, is purportedly one of the prophetess's prophecies.
Twelve months after Vanga declared that the Kursk would be "covered with water" and that "the whole world will weep over it," the submarine sank.
The Kursk fell to a depth of 350 feet after an explosion on board claimed the lives of 118 people. When divers eventually reached the scene, eight days later, everyone had perished.
Assassination of Indira Gandhi
The third Prime Minister of India was Indira Gandhi, who held office from 1966 to 1977 and again in 1980 before her assassination in 1984.
Baba allegedly said, "The dress will destroy her. I see an orange-yellow dress in the smoke and fire."
On October 31, 1984, Ghandi was shot dead by two of her bodyguards - at the time she was wearing a saffron-colored saree.
The rise of Obama and Trump
Parts of this forecast came to pass even if it did not come to pass entirely.
Barack Obama, the 44th US president, will be the first black president, she disclosed, however, she also stated he would be the last, a prediction that did not materialize.
She also claimed that the 45th president of the United States would be "faced with a crisis" that would "bring the country down", which contradicts her previous assertion.
This may have something to do with the difficulties that Trump had while in office, such as the assault on the State Capitol in Washington, DC.
She also foresaw Trump being sick, which materialized when he contracted Covid-19 in October 2020.
Other predictions
Throughout her fifty-year career, Baba Vanga is said to have made numerous prophesies, two of which include the death of Princess Diana in 1997 and the 1986 Chornobyl accident in Ukraine.
The seer did, however, make other forecasts that have not yet come to pass. For example, she said that natural births would cease in 2023, that Earth's orbit would change, and that catastrophic solar storms would occur.
In addition, she miscalculatedly believed that by 2017, Europe "cease to exist," as the mystic had said, turning the continent into a "wasteland almost entirely devoid of human life."
Nonetheless, supporters have emphasized that on June 23 of that year, Britain did cast a vote to exit the European Union.
