Cartoon 'Simpsons' correctly predicted Titan sub disaster?

The animated series "The Simpsons" successfully predicted the disaster involving the Titan submersible.

According to New York Post, "The Simpsons" fans are speculating once again about the show's ability to predict the future. The animated classic’s submersible episode was inspired by the movie "Crimson Tide'.

Fans of "Simpson" speculates that the TV series somehow the 1998 "Simpson Tide" episode of the TV series predicted the disappearance of the Titan submersible. According to the report, Mike Reiss,  a veteran writer-producer of the show,  revealed on Thursday that he personally explored the wreckage of the Titanic last July. 

According to The Post, Reiss, 63, shared that “That’s my show",  “Even I forgot about that.”.

According to the New York Post, the episode is the 19th episode of the ninth season of The Simpsons, in which two characters, Homer and Farleybanks, go on an undersea adventure.

In one scene, two characters suddenly discover the wreck of a sunken ship with a valuable treasure hidden behind it.

After using the submersible's robotic arm to retrieve some treasure, Homer's party runs into problems when they get stuck on the reef.

At this time, the oxygen concentration on the ship also reached an alarming level, and Homer lost consciousness only in time to send a signal to his father. Fortunately, Homer was saved and woke up in a hospital bed days later.

This 1998 episode of The Simpsons had audiences excited with so many parallels to the Titan disaster. Shortly after, however, the show's writer-producer Mike Reiss denied the claim, claiming that the film did not "presage" a disaster story. Meanwhile, Rice explained that the episode was actually inspired by the movie "Red Tide," starring Denzel Washington.

He shared that he fell asleep during that trip, a detail his wife Dennis also thinks fits with The Simpsons.

He said of the 1995 film starring Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman. “We didn’t predict the future, we just did it off that movie and 20 years later, something like that happened.”

However, “It’s uncanny because ‘The Simpsons’ character even falls asleep on the sub, just as Mike did on the way down,” Denise Reiss told The Post.
