The initial exchange between the teen and waitress

Jack Keith, 17, and his grandparents visited the diner on March 17. Within 10 minutes, things took a turn.

The waitress called Jack a ‘p***y’ for mumbling an insult under his breath. In response, Jack called her a “fat s**g,” which only fueled the confrontation.

Footage shows Jack calling the server a “w***e” quietly, prompting her to say, “Don’t mumble it because you’re a p***y.”

Jack repeated the insult louder, leading her to retort, “You can’t pronounce [sic], that’s embarrassing.”

Frustrated, Jack asked, “How old are you, you fat s**g?” In the background, a family member warned, “You can get kicked out for that.”

Jack expressed disbelief at being asked to leave so quickly. “I agree that if you can’t take it, don’t give it,” he said.

He thought the waitress should have been more understanding, stating, “I wasn’t going to say anything after she mentioned my pronunciation.”

Jack explained, “I’m not going to say something and then cry about it. I’d just laugh about it and say something back.”

He insisted that his insult wasn’t body shaming because “she wasn’t fat. She was your average female build.”

Jack gave his perspective after the incident.

Jack noted that they didn’t have time to read the rules. “They just threw them at us, and it was a really loud atmosphere.

There was a lot going on,” he remarked. He mentioned, “Some of the insults they gave to my grandparents were pretty next-level.”

Ultimately, Jack concluded, “Karen’s Diner is a crazy idea, and I probably wouldn’t go back.”

Karen’s Diner also responded the incident

A spokesperson for Karen’s Diner responded to the incident, stating, “If the ‘Take it’ referred to is simple ‘body abuse,’ then the statement is quite correct.”

They emphasized that the diner does not condone offensive behavior, whether given or received.

The spokesperson continued, “It is sad that a minority of customers need reminding as to how to behave.”

They added, “We have no choice but to cater for this minority and accept that they struggle to understand our rules.”

They noted that calling a waitress a “fat s**g” is indeed body shaming.

“Sadly, we are unable to explain to every customer that this behavior is unacceptable. We hand out the House Rule cards to clarify.”

Offending anyone is never funny.” They assured customers that most diners enjoy their experience without issues, thanking the 99% who contribute to the fun atmosphere.

Karen’s Diner, known for its edgy service, aims to provide a unique dining experience.

However, incidents like this illustrate the need for mutual respect, even in environments designed for humor.

While Jack and his family felt wronged, the diner upheld its strict policies against body shaming.

They emphasized the importance of maintaining boundaries in any form of banter.
