The 22-year-old swimmer sneaked out of the Olympic Village without authorization to spend a night in Paris with her boyfriend, Gabriel Santos.

While, Ana Carolina Vieira’s breach of Olympic rules came to light when she shared their Paris outing on social media,.

Vieira competed in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay on July 27 with her Brazilian teammates. As a result, the team finished 12th in the heats

Santos also participated in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay on the same day.

The Brazilian Olympic Committee has responded to Ana Carolina Vieira’s rule violation. Consequently, they took immediate action after the incident.

Then, they gave Santos a warning and allowed him to stay.

Gustavo Otsuka, Head of the Brazilian Swimming Team, dismissed Vieira from the delegation. Consequently, he sent her back to Brazil. As a result, Vieira faced severe consequences for her actions.

Then, Otsuka’s statement showed the seriousness of the infraction: “The COB decided to punish the two athletes for leaving the Olympic Village without authorization. Ana Carolina Vieira contested the decision in a disrespectful manner, leading to her removal from the team.”
