A bride has shared how she was relentlessly trolled online and falsely labelled a paedophile after sharing photographs of her wedding day with her much younger looking wife.
Lauren Evens, 31, and her wife Hannah Kaye, 29, shared their wedding joy online, only to face relentless trolling.
After posting photos of their special day, the couple faced harsh and false accusations. Online users cruelly attacked Hannah’s youthful appearance
A love story that began on Tinder
Lauren and Hannah met on Tinder and, after two years of dating, got engaged in January.
The couple was ecstatic to tie the knot in September at a local registry office in Surrey. However, their happiness was overshadowed by a wave of online abuse.
After sharing professional wedding photos, Lauren was falsely labeled a pedophile by Instagram users.
Comments like, “Why does he look like a 13-year-old boy?” and “Is he old enough to get married?” flooded their posts. Many assumed Hannah was much younger than she is, despite being only two years younger than Lauren.
A bride faced cruel comments about their youthful appearance
Lauren was disheartened by the vile accusations.
She shared, “People think they have the right to call me a predator or a pedophile, and that disgusts me.” Despite undergoing cosmetic procedures herself, Lauren emphasized that her wife’s appearance is simply due to “incredible genes.”
The online hate also affected their family members, who became protective of the couple. “The amount of abuse we have received is just ridiculous,” Lauren said, voicing her frustration over the constant attacks.
Hannah’s perspective on the situation
Hannah, a specialist engineer, has always been mistaken for being younger.
She shared, “Even before our wedding, photos of us together would attract nasty comments because I look younger.”
At nearly 30, she still gets asked for ID in bars and supermarkets, and has learned to block out hurtful remarks. “I’ve grown up with everyone having an opinion of me and how I look,” she explained.
Despite the negativity, Hannah remains unfazed. She said, “I just don’t acknowledge any comments; I just block them. Engaging with trolls is pointless because they are narrow-minded.”
The couple focused on their happiness and plans for starting a family.
Amid the hate, Lauren and Hannah are looking ahead, hoping to start a family.
They recently traveled to Northern Cyprus for egg retrieval surgery, part of their IVF journey. “Strangers online can say what they like, but we have never been happier,” Lauren said. The couple’s determination to build a future together remains unshaken.
Despite enduring online abuse and false accusations, Lauren and Hannah have chosen to focus on their love and future.
While trolls have tried to bring them down, they remain strong and committed to one another. Their journey highlights the importance of love, resilience, and the strength to rise above hate.
