After sparking discussion on social media, Camila Cabello explains why she chose to carry a block of ice on the red carpet.
In an interview with Extra TV, Cabello reflected that she believes the theme of the 2024 Met Gala was "about impermanence and things decaying over time," symbolized by the rips towards the ends of her dress and the melting ice block.
Previously, Cabello and her stylist Jared Ellner collaborated with designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin to interpret the theme - 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion' with the official dress code being 'The Garden of Time'.
In the interview, Cabello revealed that the ice block was originally a purse, but it broke just five minutes into being in line. Undeterred, she decided to carry it as a clutch.
Cabello added to Variety that the look was also a nod to her upcoming album C, XOXO, which is set for release on June 28. "Miami, we're dripping [...] we're icy but we're melting," she said. "I am ice cold."
Additionally, Cabello revealed her ice block was 'literally melting', showing reporters her wet and cold hands.
