An unfortunate accident on the set of Eddie Murphy's latest film, "The Pickup," has injured several crew members.
The incident occurred during the filming of an action sequence that did not go as planned. They had to take an investigation to find the cause and temporary pause in filming.
Amazon MGM Studios, the production company behind the movie, confirmed that occurrence and stated that it took place during an action sequence that did not go as planned.
According to reports, several crew members were affected by the accident.
While specific details regarding the injuries have not been disclosed, they range from minor bruises to more severe cases involving broken bones.
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the union representing film crew members, is investigating the incident.
As reported by the Associated Press, the accident happened because a truck suddenly stopped working and crashed into a car without warning.
MGM Studio said they are worried about the hurt crew members and want them to get better.
They said they care a lot about everyone's safety on the movie set. They made sure to check and watch out for safety throughout the filming.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident.
“The well-being of the entire crew and cast is our first priority, and we will continue to insist on the highest industry standards of safety while filming,” the statement read.
“All safety precautions were reviewed prior to and monitored during the shoot,” they added.
It is unclear whether director and producer Tim Story was present at the time of the incident.
However, production on the movie has not been halted entirely, although filming for the second unit, where the accident occurred, has been temporarily paused.
"The Pickup" features Eddie Murphy in the lead role, alongside talented casts including Pete Davidson, Keke Palmer, Andrew Dice Clay, Eva Longoria, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Jack Kesy, and Marshawn Lynch.
The movie's plot is mostly kept secret, with little information available at this time.
